Senior Program Associate – Private Sector Engagement
Bhakti G is a Senior Program Associate with the Energy Program at WRI India. She focuses on strengthening private sector engagement across the program’s key pillars, working with businesses (including corporates, MSMEs, and startups), as well as financial institutions and civil society to advance a just and equitable clean energy transition. Her work centers on developing strategy, building partnerships, tools, and supporting initiatives that enable planet- and people-centric climate action.
Before joining WRI India, Bhakti worked with Climate Group, where she oversaw renewable energy buyer engagement under the Responsible Energy Initiative (REI). She designed a strategic wireframe and toolkit guiding companies on responsible renewable energy procurement and built coalitions across corporate and civil society stakeholders. Her earlier experience spans work on food security, human rights, and artisanal (handloom weaving) entrepreneurship.
A social science researcher by training, Bhakti holds a master’s degree in Development from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. Her academic grounding has shaped her systems-thinking approach to equitable, sustainable development and social research.
Bhakti enjoys cooking, hosting friends, and rewatching her favorite shows - The Diplomat (Deborah Kahn), The handmaid’s tale, and Suits. A former gymnast and avid hot beverage enthusiast, she loves good conversations and meeting new people.
