Senior Program Associate – Industrial Decarbonization [MSME] - Climate, Economics and Finance
Mohammed Shoaib Khan is a Senior Program Associate with the Climate, Economics and Finance team at WRI India. Based in Chennai, he supports the sub-national efforts to enable low-carbon and climate resilient transitions in India’s MSME sector. His work involves developing sectoral low-carbon roadmaps, engaging with stakeholders, mapping systems and policies and identifying viable technology, finance and policy solutions tailored for MSMEs especially in leather sector.
Shoaib bring experience from government institutions, private firms and startups. Prior to joining WRI India, he worked with CSIR-CLRI where he supported research focused on bringing sustainability and circularity in the leather industry. He designed and implemented management and skill development programmes for MSMEs. Shoaib has also co-authored research publication on sustainable solid waste management in the leather sector. In his earlier roles in private firms, he managed production workflows, co-ordinated supply chains, and supported R&D for leather products aligned with international brand requirements.
Shoaib is currently pursuing integrated Ph.D. from Anna University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Leather Technology from Anna university, Chennai. Beyond work he enjoys hitting the gym, swimming, watching movies and explore places.
