Senior Program Associate – Climate Resilience Practice
Irfaan is a Senior Program Associate with the Climate Resilience Practice team at WRI India, where he focuses on integrating climate adaptation strategies into mainstream planning and development while enhancing local communities’ climate resilience. He also facilitates multi-stakeholder engagement across different levels and scales.
Before joining WRI India, Irfaan worked on climate-resilient master planning and development, sustainable mobility, public realm and urban design, and sustainable tourism projects across the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. He has contributed to projects funded by the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and various government agencies.
Irfaan holds an M.Arch in Urban Design and a B.Arch from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. His postgraduate thesis on water-sensitive urban development received a special mention for Best Thesis and was presented at the 57th ISOCARP World Planning Congress in Doha, Qatar.
Outside of work, Irfaan is passionate about social and climate activism. He enjoys watching films and series, exploring diverse cuisines and cultures, and traveling to new places.
