Sharalene Moonjely is the Program Head – Fundraising at WRI India within the Food, Land & Water Program. She leads the fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and partnerships to mobilize capital for restoration and sustainability, including blended finance solutions that channel diverse funding into climate-positive initiatives.

With over 20 years of cross-sector experience, Sharalene has held leadership roles at BPL Mobile, Yahoo! India, Times Internet, Disney India, Hindustan Times, and NMIMS University. She later transitioned to the social sector, securing 7-figure multi-year grants, implementing creative fundraising models such as a Cricket Memorabilia Auction, and pioneering Child Safety Week, a flagship national campaign that continues to raise awareness and drive action for child protection in India.

Sharalene is currently pursuing her PhD at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, where her research focuses on the adoption of the circular economy by Indian corporates. She holds a Diploma in Social Entrepreneurship from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) and a Master’s in Marketing Management, and a Bachelor’s in Commerce, both from Mumbai University.

Outside of work, Sharalene enjoys traveling, pottery, watching music, and collecting antiques. She is passionate about storytelling that inspires action and bridges corporate, academic, and the social sector.
