Program Research Analyst – Sustainable Agriculture
Simranpreet Kaur is a Program Research Analyst with the Food, Land and Water program at WRI India. She works on sustainable agriculture, focusing on research, insights, and advancing resource-efficient practices
Her professional journey combines research, technology, and on-field experience, before joining WRI India, she contributed to Agrivoltaics initiatives at the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, developing crop productivity frameworks and supporting pilot projects. She also worked at Punjab Agricultural University and IARI on protected cultivation, IoT-based irrigation, and water management technologies, while supporting farmer engagement initiatives.
She holds a master’s degree in Soil and Water Engineering and a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Her academic work focused on hydroponic systems integrated with IoT-enabled micro-irrigation to optimize resource use and crop yield, complemented by research publications in solar pumps, hydroponics, and precision irrigation.
Outside work, she enjoys baking, music, and reading.
