Subrata serves as the Associate Program Director for WRI India's Climate, Economics, and Finance Program. He oversees several research projects focused on shaping the next phase of bold climate actions and long-term strategies. Additionally, he manages and supports subnational research collaborations with Indian states and works on decarbonization strategies with industries and supply chains. He is also acknowledged as a Climate Policy Expert on the Article 6.4 Mechanism Roster of Experts by the UNFCCC Supervisory Body (SB). 

Subrata previously led GHG abatement projects while working as a Consultant with India's leading infrastructure and finance conglomerates and secured technical due diligence for the commercialization of carbon credits. He also worked as a GHG auditor with one of the UNFCCC-accredited organisations. He designed and led third-party verification under the thematic area of RE, EE, waste handling & disposal under many voluntary and compliance market-based mechanisms.

Subrata holds a Master’s degree in Energy Systems from the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun, India. Subrata is a certified Management Systems auditor (ISO 14001:2004) and, acquired proficiency certificates on GHG Accounting for Renewable Energy Projects and Landfill Gas projects from GHG Management Institute.
