Sudharsan Natraj is a Junior Program Associate with the Sustainable Cities and Transport program at WRI India. His work focuses on improving pedestrian safety, designing inclusive streetscapes, enhancing walkability, and strengthening last-mile connectivity through urban design, in close collaboration with local stakeholders and government authorities.

Before joining WRI India, he worked as a Research Assistant under Prof. Christian Martin Gaenshirt, studying pedestrian-first strategies for Chennai’s market streets and reimagining Khadar Nawaz Khan Road as a safe and culturally inclusive corridor. He also interned with Henkel in Düsseldorf and contributed to the European project “MCMH-EU” during his research internship under Prof. Gaia Caramellino.

Sudharsan holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Adhiyamaan College of Engineering and a master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Politecnico di Milano. His master’s thesis focused on pedestrian-friendly street design in Chennai. He also attended the Summer School on Innovation and Design at Xi’an Jiaotong University, China.
