Vanshika Mittal has joined WRI India as a Program Associate with the Climate, Economics and Finance team. In this role, she focuses on subnational modelling to explore key questions around local economic decarbonization.

Before this, she worked with Adam Smith International, where she developed technical proposals for tenders issued by international aid organizations such as USAID and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID). She also runs her non-profit initiative, the Nepathya Foundation, which provides skill development and economic opportunities to informal workers.

Vanshika holds a Master’s in Environmental Management from Duke University, specializing in Energy and Environmental Data Analytics and Modeling, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Ashoka University. Her interests include interdisciplinary studies, energy modelling, just energy transitions and decarbonization. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, wall climbing, dancing and reading.
