Yash Sharma is a Program Research Analyst, working under the Clean Energy Supply pillar at WRI India. His work primarily focuses on research related to electricity transmission systems, regulatory frameworks and energy sector resilience.

Prior to joining WRI India, Yash gained experience across both the development and IT sectors. He has contributed to projects involving impact assessments of electricity tariffs and improving decentralized renewable energy access for underserved communities. His field-based work includes evaluating rehabilitation and resettlement processes for displaced fishing communities in Uran, tracking the implementation of Tribal Sub-Plans under the Integrated Tribal Development Programme (ITDP) in Maharashtra, and contributing to wetlands governance research in Navi Mumbai — focusing on urban ecological systems and institutional accountability.

Earlier in his career, Yash worked as a software engineer with TCS and Newgen, contributing to public digital service infrastructure.

He holds a Master’s in Regulatory Policy and Governance from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, and a B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication from the University of Mumbai.

Outside of work, Yash enjoys reading, swimming, hiking and traveling — especially to places with minimal phone signal.
